California Girls | Santa Barbara

My lovely shooting buddy, Amy, and I have fallen in love with a new hero. Sue Bryce. You may have heard of her. If not, check out some of her stunning work here, you won't be disappointed. Anyway, Amy and I have been watching, learning, studying, researching and soaking up every tidbit we can from this amazing photographer lady. So, we decided that last month's Girl's Weekend in Santa Barbara was the perfect opportunity to try out some of our newly acquired posing techniques. Here's some of what we came up with, well, at least the work I did. I'll let you know if Amy posts her work later.

Alexis was the perfect model. Easy going, relaxed, happy and GORGEOUS. Thank you, dear, for letting me try out some new poses!

Then came Lauren. Bubbly. Sweet. Stunning. It was hard to get a picture of her NOT smiling. But how can you resist that smile? It makes me smile every time I look at her. Especially since she is my oldest friend. Only four days apart in age, we've known each other practically since we can remember. Some of my favorite memories as a child are of me and her, playing dress up, spending time outside with the kitties, or giggling at 12:30 in the morning during a sleepover because we were just too excited to go to sleep!

Then it was Amy's turn. For those of you who know her, you know this girl is just as breathtaking on the inside as she is on the outside. When we were younger, we used to photograph each other all the time. It's been years since I've had a chance to take her picture again. It's amazing, the more years that go by, the more beautiful she gets. SO not fair! Love you, Babe!

Sisters. Love.

For good measure, and because it's only fair, I've included a couple of my favorites that Amy took of me. As much fun as I had, it just further proves to myself that I'm much more comfortable behind the camera rather than in front of it!

We ended the day on the beach at sunset. We were all a little punch drunk by then, but we managed to get a quick shot of the four of us before we lost all the light. What a fun, amazing day. Love all you girls, and hope we get to do it again. Cheers!
